$3 Million Jury Award for Former Immokalee Middle School Teacher Upheld

35 years of teaching at Immokalee Middle School came to an end two days after Christmas, December 27, 2008, when a motorist unfamiliar with the area ran a stop sign and smashed into David Bowdler's pickup truck. A doctor inserted a plate into his neck to stabilize it as a result of his diagnosed injury of a cervical facet fracture.
Mr. Bowdler said after the vehicle accident, "My arms froze up and my hand was like a claw. I have a lot of pain. It's really severe."
"In April 2011 a jury awarded Mr. Bowdler $3 million in his case against his insurance company, State Farm for underinsured motorist benefits. The jury recognized that Mr. Bowdler would suffer a lifetime of pain and would no longer be able to enjoy boating, fishing or gardening as he did prior to the accident." said his attorney, Randall Spivey, Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A.
State Farm Insurance Company subsequently appealed the verdict, and on March 15, 2013 the District Court of Appeal of Florida, Second District, upheld the $3 million jury award in David Bowdler's suit against State Farm.
