New Regulations for Truck Drivers

The commercial trucking industry will roll out new regulations for truck drivers in Florida and around the country this month. Effective July 1st, 2013, truckers will have to comply with new rules for sleep and start-times, in a concentrated effort to ensure that drivers are well-rested for the road. Florida Hit And Run Accidents On The Rise

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles reported that fatalities in hit and run accidents were 168 in 2012, up from 162 in 2011.  There were 69,994 hit and run accidents statewide in 2012. In Collier and Lee Counties alone, there have been at least five hit and run accidents since January, 2013. 

Chrysler Owners Beware! New Recalls

Reuters is reporting that Chrysler issued new recalls July 3, 2013 affecting 840,000 vehicles mostly in the U.S. These recalls follow last month's recalls of 1.56 million Jeep Grand Cherokees and Jeep Libertys for potential fire danger in rear-end collisions because gas tanks were placed  behind the rear bumpers and rear axles.

40 Percent of Designated Drivers Drink

NBC News Reporter, Lester Holt reported Monday, June 10, 2013 that a new study in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs (Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey) finds that 40 percent of "designated drivers" drink before driving and nearly 20 percent say they drink so much it significantly impairs their ability to drive.
