According to a recent article in The Tampa Tribune, Floridians who own vehicles made by General Motors are keeping local dealerships quite busy after learning of the automaker's national recall. The company recently announced the recall of over two million automobiles because of a faulty ignition switch.

Approximately 1.5 million vehicles, 2010 and earlier, in the U.S. were recalled on March 31, 2014 by General Motors (GM). This GM recall was because the electronic-power steering assist can suddenly stop working at any time while driving. Steering control can be maintained, as the vehicle will revert to a manual  steering mode, but would require greater drive effort at low vehicle speeds, which could result in an increased risk of a crash.

Millions of vehicles are recalled every year. Almost 18 million vehicles were recalled in 2012, and 15.5 million in 2011. Since 1966 more than 390 million cars, trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and mopeds were recalled to correct safety defects.  Manufacturers are required to notify owners when there is a recall. Sometimes, even with notification, the needed repairs are not addressed or completed.

Chrysler Owners Beware! New Recalls

Reuters is reporting that Chrysler issued new recalls July 3, 2013 affecting 840,000 vehicles mostly in the U.S. These recalls follow last month's recalls of 1.56 million Jeep Grand Cherokees and Jeep Libertys for potential fire danger in rear-end collisions because gas tanks were placed  behind the rear bumpers and rear axles.
