Florida News Alert – Motorcyclist Tragically Dies in Marco Island Crash
February 6, 2020 | Category: Florida News Alerts, Motorcycle Accidents | ShareMarco Island, FL (February 5, 2020) According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Clayton Smith, 58, of Marco Island tragically died in an accident Wednesday night.
Dale Lowe, 23, was driving east on San Marco Road near Heathwood Drive, and Mr. Smith was driving west on his motorcycle around 6:15 p.m.
Mr. Lowe's SUV turned left in front of Mr. Smith as he approached the intersection, according to FHP. The front of the motorcycle slammed into Mr. Lowe’s vehicle. Mr. Smith went to Lee Memorial Hospital where he tragically died. Mr. Lowe sustained no injuries.
FHP said potential charges are under investigation.
