DeSoto County, FL (June 11, 2020) The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that a 49-year-old man tragically died in a single car crash on State Road 70 Thursday night. A 6-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries.

According to the FHP, the car was traveling west on State Road 70 approaching mile marker 39 when it traveled off the road onto the grass shoulder. It then overturned and collided with a barbwire fence, a tree stump and another tree before stopping. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, but the 6-year-old was.

The accident is under investigation.
