Florida News Alert – One Motorcyclist Tragically Killed in Accident
January 28, 2020 | Category: Florida News Alerts, Motorcycle Accidents | ShareGlades County, FL (January 26, 2020) One man died and two others were injured in a Glades County collision on Sunday. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that Okeechobee resident Dale Reiss, 60, tragically died in the accident.
FHP says Mr. Reiss was riding a Harley Davidson eastbound on State Road 78 when another motorcycle in front of him slowed to make a turn into a parking lot.
Mr. Reiss’ motorcycle crashed into the rear of the motorcycle in front of him and was thrown onto the road’s shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
James Ruttan, 77, of Michigan and his passenger, 75-year-old Marcia Kubacki also of Michigan sustained injuries.
FHP says the accident is under investigation.
Reiss crashed into the rear of the motorcycle and was thrown onto the road's shoulder. He was not wearing a helmet at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and a passenger on the other motorcycle were also thrown onto the roadway. The driver, 77-year-old James Ruttan of Michigan, was seriously injured and taken to Lawnwood Regional. The passenger, 75-year-old Marcia Kubacki of Michigan, sustained a minor injury.
The crash remains under investigation.
