North Port, FL (February 28, 2020) On Friday morning before 7:00 a.m. a bicyclist was airlifted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after being hit by a car. A black Pontiac was driven off the road by a Toyota Prius causing it to hit the bicyclist.

The driver of the Pontiac told the North Port Police Department 911 operator, “Someone was tailing me really hard, and he tried to go around me, and I sped up, and he pushed me off the road literally. I’m alright, my car flipped like three or four times.”

The bicyclist is expected to recover.

The North Port Police officers need the public’s assistance. They are looking for any information, video, or pictures of the incident. Please contact the department.
