Florida News Alert – Six-Car Crash on I-75
February 11, 2020 | Category: Automobile Accidents, Florida News Alerts | ShareLee County, FL (February 9, 2020) Just before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, a wrong-way driver caused a six-car crash on I-75 between Corkscrew and Alico Roads.
Mia Zambelli, 25, was traveling in a 2020 Ford Mustang southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). NBC2 confirmed Ms. Zambelli is a 9-year member and captain of the Florida Everblades dance team.
Five vehicles were in the northbound lanes when Ms. Zambelli collided head-on with one of them which caused a six-car crash, according to FHP. Ms. Zambelli is in critical condition.
Lee Health says the passenger of the other car involved in the head-on crash was in critical condition but has been upgraded to good condition. The driver of the car that was hit head-on was taken to Lee Health with minor injuries and has been discharged. Eight others, ranging in age from 16 to 57, were listed as uninjured in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation as FHP investigates whether alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
