Inadequate Security Can Cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
February 28, 2014 | Category: Inadequate Security | ShareIt is the property owner's responsibility to maintain their real estate in a manner which keeps the property reasonably safe for others. If they do not do so, the property owner may be held responsible for the injuries and other damages the inaction or negligence causes.
Claims of inadequate or negligent security usually arise from personal injury where it is alleged that the safeguards were not appropriate or adequate to protect from injury or loss.
Inadequate security at typical properties such as apartments, motels, hotels, malls, shopping center, parking garages, parking lots, hospitals, schools convenience stores, ATMs, banks bus companies, cruise lines, retail stores and other commercial establishments, may result in significant physical injuries. There may have been a shooting, stabbing, sexual assault, or death, which can result in serious psychological problems, including major depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Any traumatic event, such as those listed above, can cause PTSD to start if you believe you are in danger, your life is threatened, or where you observe other people dying or being injured.
The symptoms of PTSD can start immediately or after a delay of weeks or months, but usually within 6 months of the traumatic event.
Victims of PTSD may have a constant re-experience of the event which gave rise to the trauma. These experiences may range from bad dreams through actual physical manifestations including stress, depression, difficulty in sleeping, hallucinations, recurring obsessions or compulsions. Victims may also experience changes in emotions and character, difficulty concentrating as well as other physical manifestations which can cause significant dysfunction in occupational, social and family areas.
