Party Rental Company Sued over Bubble Soccer Accident
October 30, 2019 | Category: Child Injuries | ShareAn 18-year-old high school student suffered a fractured skull when he crashed into another student while playing “bubble soccer” at a high school party in May 2016. A trial commenced in September 2019 against the rental company which supplied the game.
Filed court documents said the bubble soccer game was overseen by Game Truck Georgia LLC, which was contracted by the high school. In bubble soccer, players wear inflatable bubble suits that extend from above their heads to below their waists.
The injured teen contends he suffered brain damage from the collision, and the counter claim is that the teen ignored safety warnings and charged at another player, causing the injury.
Bubble soccer is a relatively new sport with rules and play similar to those of traditional soccer, but there are no goalies, no off-sides rules and no official number of team players, although five is typical. Bubble soccer can be played both inside and outside.
A 25-year-old man suffered from severe and permanent injuries that left him a quadriplegic after playing bubble soccer. He alleged that the recreation business was negligent in its operation of the game and failed to post safety warnings or provide safety instructions to customers prior to allowing them to play.
“Party rental companies, and those that hire them, can be held responsible for injuries incurred by patrons when using their equipment.
