The Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida, part of the Lee Memorial Health System located at Health Park, and Kohl Corporation department stores, through Kohl's Cares, have partnered in a commitment to keep kids safe.  Through the partnership - ”Kid's Safety Program" -  they promote children's safety and wellness through events such as car seat inspections and safe pool party events. Statistics:

• The No. 1 cause of death of children 12 and under is motor vehicle accidents. An average of two children die, and more than 300 are injured, on the road everyday according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA).

• During the 2012 traditional summer season Memorial Day to Labor Day, 137 children younger than 15 drowned in pools and spas, and 168 children of that age required emergency response for near fatal incidents according to a news release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission September 13, 2012.

•  75% of children are riding in car seats which are improperly installed or don't fit correctly according the NHTSA.
