Spivey Law Supports SW ABATE 2017 Christmas Run for Veterans“Our veterans serve us proudly every day and insure that we are protected. There are occasions when veterans who have left service are living together in group homes. This is the case with those living at Jacobson Veterans Home, 21281 Grayton Terrace, Port Charlotte, Florida. As we enter the holidays, we at Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A. are happy to again be supporting the Southwest ABATE 2017 Veterans Christmas Ride,” said Attorney Randall Spivey.

The Christmas ride, according to the chapter, has been its signature event. The 2016 ride included about 170 bikers and friends who raised funds and provided gifts to 120 veterans (112 men and 8 women).

The chapter provided the following account of last year’s ride: “Upon arrival the riders were greeted by many of the veterans who were seated outside, anxious for their arrival. It was especially poignant when many of the riders, who are veterans themselves, thanked the elderly veterans for their service. Sad to say but the bikers’ visit will be the only visitors some of these aging veterans will receive all year.”

The ABATE Christmas Veterans Ride starts at 10:00 a.m. with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at Sun Sports Cycle and Watercraft, 3441 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers. At 12:15 with a police escort, the riders will leave for the Jackson Veterans Home in Port Charlotte. The event will end at 3:00 p.m. Registration per bike or vehicle is $5 and the pancake breakfast is $5.

ABATE is requesting attendees bring Christmas stockings filled with unwrapped gifts such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, candy, magazine, razors, sharing cream etc. Donations are also accepted.

The Southwest Chapter of ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education) is a “non-profit organization of motorcycle enthusiasts from all walks of life. ABATE promotes motorcycle safety, training and political awareness.”
