ABATE of Southwest Florida is a non-profit organization of motorcycle enthusiasts from all walks of life that lobbies and educates the government and general public to promote motorcycling in a safe and positive image.

ABATE’s annual Christmas run to the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans Home is its signature event of the year. Over 150 riders and ABATE friends raise funds and provide gifts to the resident veterans who eagerly await their arrival each year. Participants are asked to bring stockings stuffed with gifts, such as toiletries, shaving cream, and other surprises. In lieu of gifts, monetary donations are accepted.

Registration is scheduled at Sun Sports, 3441 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers on December 20 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. There is a $5.00 registration fee per bike or vehicle. The group will leave with a police escort at 12:15 p.m. and return around 3:00 p.m.
