As part of Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A.’s mission of supporting our community, we proudly continue our support of the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

In 1968, Shirley Walter, a Sanibel islander, found a royal tern hit by a car on the Sanibel Causeway. She could not find any services available for injured wildlife. Several volunteers joined her, and CROW was born. CROW was incorporated in 1972 and received its IRS exemption in 1973 as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.

CROW is a teaching hospital and visitor education center dedicated to saving wildlife through state-of-the-art veterinary care, research, education, and conservation medicine.

According to CROW, more than 5,000 wildlife patients are cared for each year. These include 200 species of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, which makes CROW one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation facilities for native and migratory wildlife.

CROW’s visitor education center offers behind-the-scenes views into its animal care through live camera feeds, interactive displays, and daily presentations by students, staff, and volunteers.  There are also educational fellowships and externship programs for undergraduate students and internship programs for veterinarian graduates.
