Victim of September 2013 Crash in Cape Coral Released From Tampa General Hospital
Attorney Randall Spivey of Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A., attorney for the victim, said, "I am very pleased to announce that Susan Reynolds came home to Fort Myers on Wednesday. She has been in the burn unit of Tampa General Hospital since September 7, 2013 following an automobile crash in Cape Coral. She is very glad to be home. She is happy just to be able to do simple things, such as walk outside, see her dog Bentley, eat normal food, and be with her family in a home setting instead of a hospital. She is a wonderful and strong young lady and a positive attitude has helped her through this ordeal."
Susan Reynolds, 28 of Lehigh Acres, barely escaped a fiery wreckage when she was a passenger in a sports car driven by Patrick Logue. Mr. Logue was traveling at a high rate of speed, believed to be at least 65 mph, when he lost control on a curve, spinning the vehicle backwards into a tree. The impact with the tree ruptured the gas tank, and the car burst into flames. Susan, with burns over 70% of her body, was flown to Tampa General Hospital, where she spent most of the time in the ICU burn unit undergoing various surgical procedures, including skin grafts.
"She has been through a lot and still has a long road ahead of her, but with the support of her family and her doctors she will continue to improve. We are pursuing a civil action against the driver of the vehicle she was in who was driving while intoxicated with an alcohol level of .198, more than twice Florida’s legal limit. It was also later discovered that the driver had 3 prior DUIs before this crash," said Attorney Spivey.
